Measurement system

Measurement System

This module introduces the fundamentals of measurement systems, emphasizing hands-on experience with tools such as vernier calipers and micrometers to ensure precision in the manufacturing process. The module will also seek to impart the concept of conversion of units and tolerance in the dimensions.

Manufacturing Processes and Production Lines

This module introduces students to the basics of manufacturing processes such as casting, forming, assemblies and production systems. Students are trained in assembly line operations and sustainable manufacturing.

Manufacturing processes production lines
Programmable Logic Controller (PLCs)

Programmable Logic Controller (PLCs)

This module provides a foundational understanding of PLC programming, ladder logic, and the mechanics behind a typical HMI (Human-Machine Interface). It covers standard control techniques, including HOA (Hand-Off-Auto) control, level control, pump control, and an introductory exploration of PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control loops. Additionally, the module delves into alarm and notification programming, emphasizing safety and operator usability considerations.

Mechatronics

An interdisciplinary module that integrates mechanical, electronic, and computing technologies to prepare students for work with automated systems and robotics.

Mechatronics
Additive Manufacturing

Additive Manufacturing

This module covers the principles and applications of 3D printing technologies, providing insights into the various materials and processes used in additive manufacturing. The students utilize the CAD knowledge to design a part in the CAD software, slice it, and then print it using the available printing technology.

Robotics and Automation Technology

This module covers the fundamental principles of robotics, including design, programming, operation of robotic systems, and maintenance. Additionally, it explores automation systems, including topics such as electrical circuits and wiring, robotic system design, microcontroller programming, and data acquisition.

Robotics and Automation Technology
Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR)

Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR)

This module uses extended reality technology to expose the students to augmented and virtual reality capabilities for performing manufacturing and warehousing tasks. The exercises include designing a 3D model to experience it on Android AR core, using an augmented reality application on Magic Leap, and designing a 3D object in Gravity Sketch.
