New Bulls

Overview

Congratulations on your admission to USF! We鈥檙e thrilled to welcome you to the Bull family and can鈥檛 wait to support you on this exciting new journey.

In the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), advising is a partnership. We鈥檒l work together to make sure you have the information and resources you need to reach your goals. Communication is key! If you鈥檙e waiting on transcripts, standardized test scores, or other academic records, please share that with your advisor as soon as possible. Keeping us informed allows us to provide the most accurate and helpful guidance, especially when planning your first semester schedule.

Incoming First Year students from high school

Our CAS advisors take great care to register first-year students in degree-applicable coursework for their first semester.

If you鈥檙e entering USF in the summer, we鈥檒l pre-register you in both summer and fall classes to help you stay on track in your chosen major. This proactive approach ensures you begin with the right foundation and start making progress toward your academic goals from day one.

You鈥檒l have the opportunity to review your schedule and ask your advisor questions during orientation.

Students transferring from a Private, International, or Out-of-State Institution

Once you sign up for orientation, our college begins evaluating your transfer credits to determine how your previous coursework applies to your degree.

If your credits are from a private, international, or out-of-state institution, additional review may be needed to confirm course equivalency. In these cases, you may be asked to provide a course syllabus for review.

You can easily submit this information using the . Once your materials are received, we will review them and notify you by email when the process is complete, typically within two weeks (10 business days).

If you no longer have access to your syllabus, try contacting your previous institution; many departments keep archived copies or can confirm course content.

Our goal is to make your transition to USF as smooth and transparent as possible, so please don鈥檛 hesitate to reach out if you have questions during this process

Previously Attended Orientation

Sometimes life changes can cause students to delay starting at USF after attending orientation, and that鈥檚 okay! You won鈥檛 need to attend orientation again.

Instead, you鈥檒l meet with a CAS advisor before your first term to review your plans and prepare for registration. More details about this process can be found on our CAS Students/Returning Students.
