Summer Programs

The Office of National Scholars assists students with finding and applying to a variety of summer programs. Many of these academically focused programs include courses and seminars to supplement the hands-on experiences.


Interdisciplinary

Fulbright UK Summer Institute Program
For high-achieving first and second-year undergraduate students with little travel experience outside North America, the Fulbright UK Summer Institutes programs are three to four weeks long. Participants explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK while experiencing higher education at a UK university.


The Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP) is a fully paid summer internship that provides undergraduates with training and mentoring in the principles underlying the conduct of research and prepares them to pursue competitive applications to PhD or MD-PhD programs. 


With a wide range of undergraduate credit-bearing modules offered by renowned academic departments, students can choose the subject best suited to their academic or personal interests.

Health


The UCLA Public Health Scholars Training Program provides undergraduate students and recent graduates the opportunity to explore the field of public health through hands-on training, structured workshops, group events, volunteering opportunities, leadership and professional development.


Michigan FPHLP is a residential summer program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Through field placements, skill building workshops and mentorship, Michigan FPHLP provides students with opportunities for growth, learning and awareness in the field of public health.

Humanities


The Hertog Foundation offers online and residential summer fellowships with seminars in humanities, political studies, constitutional studies, war studies, and security studies.

Public Service and International Engagement

Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Fellowship Junior Summer Institute
PPIA Institutes seek high-potential undergraduate students to participate in an intensive seven-week program before their senior year to prepare them for influential roles serving the public good.

STEM

Amgen Biotechnology Research Program
Amgen Scholars step into some of the world’s premier research universities and institutions, conducting hands-on research in a broad array of subjects in biology and biomedical engineering in the lab alongside top faculty.

DAAD-RISE, Undergraduate Research in Germany
DAAD RISE Germany offers undergraduates the opportunity to complete a funded summer research internship at top German universities and research institutions studying biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering, or a closely related field.


Penn MindCORE is an interdisciplinary effort to understand human intelligence and behavior. Research programs in MindCORE bring together faculty from disciplines in the arts and sciences ranging from psychology, biology, cognitive science, neuroscience, and physics to economics, linguistics, political science, sociology, and philosophy; and they bridge to centers and departments in Medicine, Wharton, Engineering, and Annenberg.

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Summer Undergraduate
Research Fellowship (SURF)
The NIST-SURF Program is designed to inspire undergraduate students to pursue careers in STEM through an eleven-week summer research internship.
